People's Museum

Achievements of The People



The Contributions from the people of Melaka in various aspects such as economics, politics, social, education, tourism, industrialisation and others can be viewed in the People's Museum. You'll develop a deeper understanding on how Melaka received its standing today. The outstanding achievements of Melaka during the years 1982-1992 are commemorated in the exhibition, "A Decade of Melaka".

Maritime Museum

The Ship Museum


Ever been on a ship that is actually a museum inside? If not, come aborad this one then. Constructed after the Portuguese ship, "Flor De La Mar", it is a place where you'll find indepth knowledge on Melaka from the 14th century to the present time. 

The Maritime Museum is located at Jalan Quayside.

Museum of History and Ethnography

Exhibitions of The Past

Built in 1982, the Museum of History & Ethnography is a great place to learn about the history of Melaka. Through the artifacts and historical drawings, you will be transported back from the times of the Portuguese, Dutch, British and Japanese, to the period of Malaysia's independence.



The stories of bloodshed, tragedy, power and triumph will tug at your heartstrings and live on forever. The museum is located inside the Stadthuys at the junction of Jalan Kota and Jalan Gereja

St. Paul's Church

Our Lady of the Hill


Built by a Portuguese captain, the church was transformed into a burial place for the boble by the Dutch.



The church, which was called "Our Lady Of The Hill" by the Portuguese, was renamed to St. Paul's Church after the Dutch took over Melaka.


The Church is located at Bukit St. Paul.

Christ Church

Architecture of the Dutch

If you have a passion for architecture, this church is a place not to be missed. When you look closely, you'll be able to see the handmade pews and ceiling beams that had been constructed without joints.


Other exquisite features include the Brass Bible, the tombstone written in Armenian and the glazed tiles of "Last Supper". Built in 1753, the Christ Church is situated along Jalan Gereja

The Stadthuys

House of the Governors

Once the official residence of the Dutch Governors and officers, is has now become the historical building for the Museum of History and Ethnography.


On a daily basis, you can enjoy the display of traditonal bridal costumes and relics from Melaka's ancient times.

Melaka's Sultanate Palace

A Visit to the Past


Right in the centre of Melaka town, opposite the Proclamation of Independance Memorial Building, the Cultural Museum is a place not to be missed. A replica of the old Sultanate Palace, the museum depicts a vivid tale of the unique blend of Cultures in Melaka.
You can view the tableaus and collections of the past there.
